The battle between Uber and local regulation continues and this rebellious driver faces opposition in the City of Portsmouth.

It is no secret that having Uber in your area makes going out on the town so much more convenient.

Personally, I love Uber and have never had a bad experience being driven in each state I've been to over the past few years. It was my favorite way to get to a New Hampshire downtown for a reasonable price and get driven back when needed.

As a guy who has used Uber many times over the past year it is upsetting to see the controversy that had lead to it being banned in Portsmouth. Luckily the fight is not over to have this amazingly convenient service in my area.

The problem lies in proof of insurance and background checks, which is the center of a heated debate between the city and Uber. All of that legal nonsense is being sorted out, but in the meantime we have a rogue Uber driver picking up passengers.

Christopher David, who runs Free Uber, is going all ninja with his Uber and driving around Portsmouth in search of customers. In the video above you can see how a usual trip might end up when you are a rogue Uber driver on the New Hampshire seacoast.

Local police have to enforce the transportation services ordinance, a violation of which can result in hundreds of dollars in fines. A grandmother Uber driver was the first to get nailed by the new ordinance.

On top of the police there are taxi drivers who are dedicated to "assisting" police in enforcing the ordinance that is currently keeping Uber out of the city. They are tracking drivers, blocking them from picking up passengers and acting exactly how you expect taxi drivers to act.

Christopher's actions can be debated, and he may even have an arrest warrant our for this recording, but I think it is good to keep the issue in the public eye. There is a lot of support for Uber in Portsmouth, but also some pretty powerful opponents looking to keep it out.

I'm not a legal or business expert, but all I want is to get the whole mess sorted out so I can have the choice to take an Uber. Sure, I'll take a taxi if I am desperate and there are no Uber drivers around, but honestly I would rather not.

Let's bring Uber back.
