5 Things I’ll Miss About This Iconic New Hampshire Bakery
You may have heard by now that Harvey's Bakery on Central Avenue in Dover, New Hampshire is closing. The owners are calling it quits after the business has been in downtown Dover for 93 years.
Pam, Susan, Karen and Brad called it quits on their Facebook page last month and people are devastated.
We get it, though. They have worked very, very hard and it's time to call it a day. Boy, I'll sure miss them though.
In no particular order, here are the reasons why I'll miss Harvey's Bakery:
The Maple ROUNDS
Okay, maybe there IS some kind of order to this. Where will I get the maple rounds now? Harvey's is famous for many things, but these are on the top of my list. The maple squares are the ones without the cream inside.
The Coconut Cream Pie
Any pie at Harvey's is amazing, but this one tasted just like the one my grandmother made.
The Pork Pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas
I can't imagine a holiday without them. I might have to go buy a few before they close and have them ready in the freezer.

The Old School Feel
One of the best things about Harvey's is the old school feel to the place. It's a throwback to a simpler time where the server filled your coffee without you asking and you tipped generously, in cash.
The Staff
It's hard for me to talk about the staff in both the restaurant and bakery part of the place. They made you feel like family and never judged you if you asked for extra whipped cream on your cream pie. *sniff*
To everyone at Harvey's, thank you doesn't seem to cut it. Here's hoping you will get bored and change your mind and decide to stay open another 90 years or so.
