2017 is barely four days old, but already two popular restaurants have left the landscape.

Just a few days ago word came of the closing of Brazo. Now it's Radici's turn. I had a wonderful meal every time I ate at Radici and am sad to see it go.

According to seacoastonline the space won't be closed for long. In fact, it's the owner of Radici, Daniel Rean, who is opening up the new eatery.

"I am trying to create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and will not leave hungry," said Rean. "There are many fine restaurants in Portsmouth. Braise will offer great food without pretense and satisfying portions with a competitive price tag."

Rean says "The menu will include items such as tenderloin au poivre, duck sausage cassoulet and gnocchi bolognese."

The inside has been updated with new lighting and flooring, and is expected to open later this week.
