Workers on the breakfast shift at Burger King in Somersworth discovered a dead body on the property Thursday morning.

Emergency rescue crews were called to the restaurant on High Street at 6:43 a.m. for a reported male subject who was not conscious and not breathing outside the restaurant.

Upon arrival, crews determined that the 27-year-old man was deceased.

The identity of the man is not being released at this time.

Police Chief David Kretschmar issued a press release that said it appears that the man died of a drug overdose, but an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of the man's death.

Workers at the restaurant were shaken after the scene was cleared.

"It's a rough way to start the day," Manager Brenda Bourdon told Seacoast Current.

Bourdon did not know anything about the individual.

"Just an unfortunate young man," she said.
