New Bakery in Somersworth, New Hampshire, Has Proper Scones and Other European Treats
There's a new bakery in Somersworth, New Hampshire, that serves very English treats and tea.
On "Simply Somersworth" Facebook page, there was a very enthusiastic post about the new Third Space Bakery in Somersworth, New Hampshire, right next to the Post Office.
From what their website shows, it looks like they specialize in shortbread cookies, flapjacks, (which are not pancakes, they are cookie bars) biscuits, posset (lemon custard) and scones.
Third Spice Bakery also has "clotted cream," according to the Facebook post, which is whole milk that is heated, but not boiled. When it cools, the milk clumps up and makes the cream. It is usually a topping for scones and served with tea. How very English.
The bakery is owned by a mother/daughter team who have always loved to bake. How wonderful is that? Who wouldn't want that kind of relationship with their Mom and vice/versa.
I'm not sure if this was the case with this bakery, but remember that little thing called the pandemic? We all had to stay inside. Maybe this Mother and Daughter team had time to do a lot of baking and decided to share it with the world. That is one good thing that the pandemic did for us was to think like an entrepreneur.
The bakery is located at 8 Government Way and right now, according to the Facebook post, they are open Thursday - Sunday, 7a - 2pm.
They also have gluten-free shortbread. That's amazing! Now I won't get cramps. Can't wait to try those shortbread cookies. From what I remember when I went abroad, they were delicious.
