Yesterday, my husband and I went up to the Lakes Region just to get away from our neck of the woods for a little while. We ended up in Alton Bay at an ice cream/ fried clam place. We never have fried clams except in the Summer. We had to order them!  They were calling our name!  Even though we usually make a point of not getting seafood away from the sea, we were close to water, so we thought that was good enough.  We also had to order the ice cream. Isn’t that some kind of law? If you're gonna get the fried clams, you might as well get the ice cream, right?  I mean, that’s how I see it.
After it was all gone, I felt awful, as I usually do after eating something fattening like this, so I thought I’d look up how many calories I just ate.  Why?  I have no idea.  Maybe because I'm a glutton for punishment.  While I'm at it, I might as well look up the number of calories in the food that I plan to eat this Summer:

Making your own friend clams is not for the faint of heart.  You have to commit to the fact that you are doing to deep fry those suckers, so you can't be worried about the calories.  I don't know why that is hard for me to do if I try to make them myself.  I mean, I know that they are deep fried if I order them, but somehow I can justify it in my brain.  Not so much if I do it myself.
