The Conway Scenic Railroad made a change to their Mount Washington passenger car that helps promote social distancing and might even make you feel like you're riding the Hogwarts Express.

The Conway Scenic has many passenger cars built in the early 20th century that they have restored and use today for people to board and ride along the rails of the former Boston and Maine railroad line. The seating in these cars are similar to what you'd see on modern passenger trains, buses and airplanes. Rows of seats close together with a center aisle. It's not the ideal environment to maintain social distancing.

Conway Scenic Master Mechanic George Small worked some of his own magic and transformed the Mount Washington passenger car into a British-style compartment coach, with doors and windows, allowing groups of four to have their own compartment on the train, similar to what was seen on the Hogwart's Express in the Harry Potter films.

You likely won't have a nice old lady come buy to offer you something from the trolley, but it will give you a bit of a feel for what it would be like to ride in a British-style compartment coach that we never really had here in the United States.

If you want to book your reservation to ride in the Conway Scenic Railroad's new Mount Washington Compartment Coach to Conway or Bartlett, call 603-356-5251 or go to conwayscenic.com
