Henry Law Park in Dover, New Hampshire is a place where families gather for many reasons, but one is to have fun on the playground.  That sometimes includes climbing on the big blue crab that's been there for years and years.

The Blue Crab, however, needs a makeover, but it can't do it without you.

Cliff Blake of the Dover Arts Commission said,

It (the blue crab) was just in the elements for so long.  I don't think it was meant to be out there forever and ever, but it was getting to be a little jagged, a little rusty and the City thought, what if some poor child climbs it and cuts themselves on this metal?  So the City (of Dover) unbolted it from the ground and took it over to the Dover High School.

Dover NH High School Saves the Blue Crab

The Dover High's Career Technical Center's welding department went to work on it.  Then, the crab went to the automotive department where it is waiting to be painted.

There is a GoFundMe account that has been set up by Chris, the owner of Lickee's and Chewy's, to raise the $3,400 for painting materials.

Right now, it looks kinda like an Army tank with no paint.

If you and your family have had fun at the park and you would like to help, just click here and make a donation.  Or maybe you've never been and you are just a supporter of giant marine life, you could also make a donation.

Dover Arts Commission Plans on More Projects

Cliff also told me that there are more plans to beautify the City of Dover.  Not long ago, a traffic transponder was painted with an art design created by Dover students.

The Garrison City is just getting better and better!
