A Dover man was charged for allegedly placing a suspicious device in front of an ATM Thursday morning.

The device was found in front of a drive-up ATM at the TD Bank on Weeks Lane on the Dover/Rollinsford border which led to the evacuation of the surrounding area while Dover Police, Rollinsford Police, the Dover Fire Department and NH State Police inspected the device. They determined the device was not harmful.

Police did not disclose Chamberlain's reason for placing the device at the bank.

Rollinsford Police arrested Darek Chamberlain, 27, Thursday night by Durham Police on unrelated charges and then charged with a placement of simulated explosives, a class A felony in the Rollinsford incident.

Chamberlain is being held at the Strafford County Jail.
