In an interview with NewsNation, the former Governor had a few key points including travelers should not cancel their flight plans, but they should "pack their patience."
When asked about the situation regarding air travel for people around the country, the former Governor said, "It's slowly getting worse."
He also had these key points for New Hampshire travelers:
- The airlines are going to sacrifice a little bit of speed to make sure things are safe because safety is paramount.
- The TSA Workers at the airport that get you through security so quickly are working without pay as are the Air Traffic Controllers.
- When asked specifically if it was safe to fly, Former Governor Sununu said, "Oh, 100%. Without a doubt. Safety is absolutely paramount."
The interviewer also said there is a shortage of about 3,000 people among controllers and the system itself is out of date. Former Governor Sununu agreed that the system is inefficient and outdated, however, within the next 3-6 months, contractors will begin their work to update it. It will be a process of 3-5 years, but the upgrade is going to happen.
