On September 6th, Heidi Lilley and Barbara MacKinnon were written up in Gilford for not covering up their breasts. They pleaded not guilty. They were arraigned earlier this week with a trial date set for December.

For her part, Heidi wants to prove that the Gilford ordinance is unconstitutional and that women should be allowed to expose thier upper bodies.

According to a story at Seacoastonline.com:

"An attorney says the women pleaded not guilty and that he plans to file a motion to dismiss the case on equal protection grounds. He says the law essentially criminalizes being a woman."

Lilley has become a local leader of a national movement called Free the Nipple, which seeks to "stand against female oppression and censorship." The group held a topless event at Hampton Beach in August.

It does seem ridiculous to me that this is still a hot topic in the 2015, so good luck to Heidi and Barbara in their efforts to 'Free the Nipple'!
