Wow!  You don't see this everyday.

Al Gauron Deep Sea Fishing and Whale Watching posted on their Facebook page that 13 year old Jackson Denjo of Hampton, New Hampshire caught an Atlantic Halibut weighing 178.9 pounds.

The International Game Fish Association needs to confirm that he holds the Junior record for that big fishy fella.

The fish was caught on the American Classic with Captain Jim on an overnight trip out.

It's all up to the IGFA now.  From Al Gauron's Facebook post, Greg made this comment:

I was looking online for what the current record is for juniors in the Atlantic and this is what I got from Gemini….
'While a world junior record exists for Pacific halibut, the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) currently lists the Atlantic halibut junior records as vacant. The junior and smallfry categories for Atlantic halibut do not have an approved record holder listed on the IGFA database.'
That sounds like good news for Jackson.

Ralph had this to say:

Can’t wait for this kid to be listening to his college buddies talking about the big bass they caught, or the monster pollock, then he whips out the picture of this. Fantastic.

If you would like to go deep sea fishing yourself or whale watching, go online and book your trip at algauron.com.  If you sign up for a whale watch, they can't guarantee that you will actually see a whale.  On their website, they said, "we are not visiting a zoo."  I like these people.

How Many People Would a 180 Pound Atlantic Halibut Feed?

A quick google search came up with, depending on portion size, around 280 people.
