We may not live in Kansas City or Dallas, but there is still some pretty fantastic barbecue fare on the Seacoast, at least according to the Seacoast Eats Facebook page.

Seacoast Eats has almost 14,000 members, and recently the group tackled the question of determining their favorite barbecue spots on the Seacoast.

We compiled their five most-popular answers. Enjoy.

5. MoJo's BBQ Grill & Tavern, Portsmouth

If you're looking for good barbecue fare with a sports bar atmosphere, folks say this might be the place for you. A laid-back, tavern vibe to go along with some house-favorite gumbies have made this a Seacoast staple.

MoJo's also offers a fairly diverse menu with handheld sandwiches, salads, etc., so it's not strictly a barbecue-only eatery.

4. Shane's BBQ, Hampton

This restaurant calls itself "Authentically Austin," and Seacoast foodies seem to agree. What sets Shane's apart, in the eyes of the page members, is a dynamite breakfast menu to support an already-proficient lunch and dinner menu.

They've got some traditional fare but spice things up with some street tacos in typical Tex-Mex fashion. They also have a burger named after Whataburger, a Texas-based fast food chain. Extra points for that.

3. The Rusty Can, Byfield

If you're up for a trip south, folks suggest The Rusty Can in Byfield is worth the journey. It's got a 4.7 star rating with almost 1,000 Google reviews.

Commenters raved about the restaurant's brisket, among other menu items. Another facet that sets this joint apart is that it offers barbecue tacos as well as traditional fare.

2. Goody Cole's Smokehouse, Brentwood

Another popular choice was Goody Cole's in Brentwood. Folks seemed to appreciate the restaurant's laid-back and no-frills vibe. The restaurant claims its ribs are world-famous.

They don't deliver, but Goody Cole's Smokehouse still came out with a 4.6 star rating with over 1,000 Google reviews.

1. Ore Nell's Barbecue, Kittery

Ore Nell's was by far the most popular response from members. Holding a 4.6 star rating with over 350 Google reviews, Ore Nell's offers dine-in service as well as curbside pickup and no-contact delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some folks raved about Ore Nell's creative dishes like their smoked BBQ tofu sandwich or their popular pulled pork sandwich. Whatever your barbecue craving might be, it seems like Ore Nell's should be able to scratch the itch.
