Do you think you live in a safe state?

U.S. News & World Report ranked all 50 states for safety based primarily on public safety. The researchers looked at FBI data on violent crime rates and property crime rates in each state. The report puts murder and non-negligent manslaughter, robbery, aggravated assault and rape in the violent crime category. Property crime consists of burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft in this study.

You're probably glad to hear Maine is the number one state for public safety. New Hampshire ranks third. Actually, all 6 New England states made the list of states with lower crime rates.
