COVID-19 is stressful, and we know you want to have a nice Thanksgiving whether you're in Maine or Massachusetts or wherever you are in New England.

Well, here are some tips below straight from the Centers for Disease Control to help you out.

The CDC even says that

...small household gatherings are an important contributor to the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Oh oh. That's exactly what Thanksgiving is...and in some cases, large household gatherings.

Here are some guidelines from the CDC, which reminds us that these are things to consider and do not overrule any state or federal rules and regulations.

Here are some of the things you may want to think about before asking someone over for Thanksgiving that is outside the circle you live with, according to the CDC.

  • If you're travelling, just remember all those public places, including transportation, could have been exposed to the virus.
  • Outside is better than inside.
  • The more the merrier doesn't apply to COVID. If you have more people, you have more risk. Remember to stay 6 feet away, wear a mask, wash your hands and follow any local regulations.
  • The more safety measures, the safer you will be during the actual Thanksgiving get-together. That isn't always easy at extended-family gatherings or with friends. And always remember, that alcohol doesn't just unlock secrets, it makes you have lousy judgement and just say screw the mask and let me give Aunt Betty a big hug.

The NH Health Public Services also had this to share on Facebook:

For a lot of us, Thanksgiving is that special family celebration, but this year - you may want to really scale back. It's better to skip a tradition than to try and find a hospital bed.

Whatever you decide, just be as safe as you can, and have a happy Thanksgiving!
