Fees have increased 25 cents per hour and there will be ticketing from 9am to 8pm Monday through Saturday, and noon to 8pm on Sunday.

That is an extra hour each session, which should benefit customers instead of local workers. In fact, according to seacoastonline.com, Public Works Director Peter Rice indicates this price increase is a deterrent to local workers grabbing free spaces after metered hours in hopes of saving parking spaces for shoppers:

"Our experience has been that available spaces disappear quickly after enforcement ends, and are generally filled by employees or residents looking for free parking,” Rice said. “Raising parking rates will also help offset construction costs for the new parking garage at Foundry Place.”
