According to a report from WMTW, a hawk was found injured in Deering Oaks Park in Portland by Terra Fletcher who was skiing in the park.  Terra used to be a Falconer!  Who knew there was such a thing as a Falconer and how wonderful that SHE was there at the exact moment that she was needed?!  That's pretty cool.  Cold, actually.

Terra told WMTW, that when the bird was rescued, he wouldn't stand on his feet and would just lay on his side.  He also wasn't fighting back very much at all.

The Hawk was taken to Avian Haven, a wild bird rehab center.  Again, who knew there was such a thing!

Yet another reason why I love New England and the people that live here.  We care about what happens to our wildlife!  I am hopeful that the Hawk will be rehabilitated and sent back in to the wild, however, the report states that the Hawk is common to Mexico and parts of South America.  If that's the case, maybe the Avian Haven people need a volunteer to bring the bird back!  I'll volunteer, I could use some sunshine.
