Okay, maybe not exactly breaking news, but it’s still fun to write out every time: the New England Patriots are going to the Super Bowl. I mean, we should be used to it by now, but it never gets old.

Are the New England Patriots the Greatest Franchise Ever in the NFL?

This will be the 12th trip to the Big Game for New England—the most in the league by a wide margin. No other team in the NFL has more than eight. To say the Patriots are the most successful franchise in the history of the Super Bowl era is an understatement of the century.

Now, not every game has gone swimmingly. In fact, a few of those losses have been downright dreadful. But a loss in the Super Bowl is still better than any other loss in the sport. Just imagine what it must be like to be a Cleveland Browns or New York Jets fan. They would die for a loss in the Super Bowl.
