According to Travel + Leisure, that isn't by accident. Becky's Diner was the number 7 most popular diner in America in a 2026 list just released.

The criteria included Google searches for specific diners, positive reviews left in the last year as well as the overall Google rating.

It was the only diner in the entire New England region to be included on the list.

How Did Becky's Diner in Portland, Maine, Become So Popular?

There's not really one clear answer about how Becky's Diner rose to national prominence. At one point, the diner operated 24 hours and was a bridge between the odd hours of the working waterfront and everyday community members and visitors.

Becky's Diner was also featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, a show with a massively loyal following that props any restaurant featured up.

But Becky's has also become a beacon of simplicity. In a city filled with trendy decor, fancy ingredients and expensive cocktails, Becky's has remained a place where you can get a straightforward plate of food with no frills.
