Looking For Free Fun in Portsmouth, New Hampshire? Visit a Museum Filled With Dumb Guy Stuff
Tucked away on Mechanic's Street in Portsmouth
If you're looking for a fun thing to do this weekend, why not visit the Museum of Dumb Guy Stuff. It is exactly what the title says it is. A museum of dumb guy stuff like hand-painted action figures, a model train, model cars, and lots more dumb stuff.
Clay Emery is the owner of a beautiful house on Mechanic's Street in Portsmouth that houses the Museum. His friend, Rod Hildebrand moved his train set in, and Voila! A museum was born.
Kids Love The Place
According to a report from WMUR's NH Chronicle, Clay said that a 10-year-old boy came into the place and said, "This isn't dumb stuff, this is AWESOME stuff!" So, they feel totally vindicated.
How Much Does it Cost?
It's free. If I were walking past the museum, I might go in. I mean, they do have a running model train and I like those very much. The other stuff, not so much... but I'm a girl. The sign didn't say "dumb GIRL stuff."
What Are The Hours?
The Museum doesn't keep regular hours, but it's usually open from 11a - 4pm. I would look for the OPEN sign in front of the address: 114 Mechanic Street, Portsmouth, NH
The Owner of the Museum Has Held Many Jobs
Clay Emery, according to Wikipedia, has been a blacksmith, a dishwasher, a teacher in Australia, carpenter, zookeeper, farmhand, firefighter, just to name a few of his occupations! From that list, it's easily assumed that Clay is a very interesting guy!
