He brought them to the bank in fifteen 5-gallon plastic water jugs. Guess how much he had in those jugs?

45 years ago, Otha Anders found a penny on the ground and saved it. And every single time he saw one after that he's take it home too.

Saved these pennies to the tune of $5,136.14!

Otha said the pennies would be a reminder to give thanks and pray.

"I became convinced that spotting a lost or dropped penny was an additional God-given incentive reminding me to always be thankful," said Anders, 73. "There have been days where I failed to pray and more often than not, a lost or dropped penny would show up to remind me."

Otha said he'd always make sure to pay for whatever he would buy in a way so that he would be sure to get pennies during the exchange.

He's going to put the cash towards a recent dental bill.

If you're like me, you've got pennies in plastic cups, and little coin jars all over the house. And don't forget the ashtray in the car. That's full of them.

I used to roll 'em up every other year or so, thinking I'd walk away with a big dollar bill. It didn't happen.

It was never worth the hassle of finding them, counting them, rolling them, and then spending 1/2 an hour washing my hands afterward.

But I tip my cap to Mr. Anders, he stuck with it. To me pennies are a hassle. He made lemonade. Or at least he can buy a lot of lemonade.
