You know you live in a very, very special state when the one and only Martha Stewart has a home there.

Martha spends a lot of time in Seal Harbor, Maine, on Mount Desert Island.

At the turn of the century, 1999 going into 2000, she remembers it as a really great time.

According to Martha's Facebook page, she wanted to celebrate the "fin de siecle," which I had to look up.  It means "end of century."  (How much do I love Martha. She teaches me stuff about everything.)

Martha invited a group of friends to her house on Mount Desert Island, Maine to celebrate.

Martha recalled on her Facebook page, "Some believe that the sun first touches the United States at the easternmost point of the island, so we hiked there before dawn on January 1, 2000, to catch the earliest rays of the morning and welcome the new century. What fun we had! I'll never forget it."

Martha is able to host parties at this "American Treasure" as she calls it, according to architecturaldigest.com, with hundreds of people in attendance.

What I want to know is how can I get an invite?

She invites hundreds of people?  C'mon.  I don't care who you are, famous or not, there's no way she has hundreds of friends, so if you are reading this and you go to Martha's house on occasion in Acadia National Park, I am free that day.  Guaranteed.

The house has a name, Skylands and Ox Ledge, according to houseandgarden.co.uk.  You know it's a beauty when a house has a name.  Skylands was once the summer home of Edsel Ford and she purchased that in 1997.

There was a neighboring estate "Ox Ledge" that she also purchased.

Here's the thing about the beauty of Maine though.  It's more breathtaking than any house on Earth, even Martha's.  And I think she knows it.  Maybe you should take a trip to Mount Desert Island for New Year's Eve.  You might even run into Martha.
