Supporters of the proposed bill say starting school after Labor Day would help the vacation industry in the Granite State.

How would you feel about school starting back up after Labor Day? A bill is being proposed to do just that across the entire state of New Hampshire.

A WMUR report says State Sen. Martha Fuller Clark, D-Portsmouth, is sponsoring the bill, which would force all schools in New Hampshire to begin classes after Labor Day.

"It's important that we have consistency both for families and businesses, for students and for vacations," Fuller-Clark said.

Gov. Chris Sununu , who first launched his "Save our Summers" campaign in August  said the summer vacation industry sees a negative economic impact when students go back to school before the holiday.

Those opposed to the bill say it should be up to each school district as to when classes resume in the fall.
