When you go out this morning, be careful of where you step.  It is VERY slippery this morning!

When I came out of my house this morning, I felt like I was about 90 years old because I was going VERY SLOWLY out my front door to my car.  It was a sheet of ice on my driveway.  My husband was out there scraping all the ice off my car before I made my way to the studio here in Dover.  (I know.. he's a keeper)  We did put down salt and you should too.  It's wicked slippery this morning.

I wanted to get some stats for you about how many people slip and fall here in NH, but when I googled that, I got a bunch of personal injury attorneys.  Haha!  Hey, everyone needs an attorney at some point in their lives, don't they?

After a little bit of digging, I did find these stats:

One in four Americans aged 65+ falls each year.  Every 11 seconds, an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall; every 19 minutes, an older adult dies from a fall.

Whoa!  Not only that, but ncoa also says that falls are the leading cause of fatal injury among older adults.  Not to mention, the cost of these injuries can be enormous!

So, if I were you, no matter how old you are, just grab the Morton's salt before you head out this morning.  You're going to need it for those spots that are sheer ice.
