We noticed a post on the Exeter, NH Community Forum page on Facebook originally posted by Debby Pawlendzio that has us, and a lot of other people, very confused.

What exactly does this picture mean?

Here are some of the responses from Debby's post:

No peppermint patties allowed

No girl scout cookies allowed?

No thin mints allowed
Beware of whoopee pies / Oreos.
No thin mints clearly
Beware of wild peppermint patties

Peppermint Patties were definitely a Theme

Someone who lives there is tired of picking up
York Peppermint Patty wrappers and placed the sign there…. Truth!
What kind of a psycho eats peppermint patties??
Eating of peppermint patties prohibited. Only in designated areas.
In that stretch of road someone is throwing out Peppermint Patty wrappers. There difficult to pick up and that part of the road is dangerous enough. I put them up trying to discourage whoever is throwing them out.

No York’s Peppermint Patties? Why would someone put these signs up? Perhaps people littering their wrappers. My Gram will find this hilarious- she loves them! They’re always on the Sam’s Club list!

We Have the Answer to this NH Mystery

As it turns out, Debby, who took the picture of the sign and made the post said that she knew who put up the sign.  She said it was Melissa Damsel, who from her Facebook page, lives in Exeter, put up the signs.
Debby said:  "Apparently someone is throwing out peppermint patty wrappers in bulk in a section of the road on route 85 going from Newfields to Exeter so she put the sign up to discourage them from littering."
Well, there you have it.  Mystery solved.  Or is it....
