Oh Deer! This Portsmouth, New Hampshire Restaurant Delays Opening Because of Smashed Window
Oh, the Poor "Deer!"
This Was Unexpected in Downtown Portsmouth
The Friendly Toast in Portsmouth, New Hampshire had to delay opening this morning because a deer jumped through and smashed their front window.
Luckily there were no guests in the restaurant at the time. The deer and the employees are all okay, according to their Instagram post.
One of the Chef's at the Toast was able to get the deer out from the back door without any issues.
Portsmouth Police Was Called to the Friendly Toast
Because the people at the Toast have amazing people who worked there, they called the Portsmouth Police just to make sure the deer didn't show up injured somewhere else.
Some of the comments on their Instagram feed were pretty funny:
I'm so glad u got this on video bc zero percent chance your insurance company would believe this otherwise
Wow he really wanted pancakes this morning… glad the deer & everyone is okay.
The friendly toast is so good even the local deer want in!

One of the comments made crossed my mind too:
WHOA! What is a deer even doing in downtown Portsmouth?! This can’t be good…in search of water or food? No resources for it in the woods? Chased out by hunters? Is it hunting season?
Where I work is a pretty rural part of Dover, NH. On my way in, I often see Deer like I did this morning. Portsmouth and Dover alike are growing by leaps and bounds and I sometimes think about the deer. Where are they gonna go?
I guess one of them had the idea of going to the Friendly Toast! I can relate.
