Yesterday Patriots linebacker, Jerod Mayo, announced his retirement on Instagram. He's 29 and spent 8 years with New England.

Mayo was the 10th overall pick by the Pats in the 2008 draft.

He was named AP Defensive Rookie Of The Year, made two Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl. Not a bad career.

Can't  blame him for getting out now, while he has his health (for the most part) and a bright future. Check out the message he posted:

RETIRING A PATRIOT.
