Portsmouth Students Want A Later Start To The School Day
The 7:30 am start time is taking it's toll on some of the high school students in Portsmouth. Boo friggin' Hoo.You know what 7:30 am is to me and thousands of other workers? It's lunchtime. We're just about halfway through our day. But in a recent article on Seacoast Online, that is just too early to start class.
They'd like to start class at 8:30. They'd like you to think that that would make all the difference in the world as far as their studies are concerned.
"That's why I'm failing Algebra...school starts too early!"
Oh sure, they've got some studies and editorials to back them up.
I bet if I searched hard enough, I'd find as many studies that say there's no measured difference in starting school at 7:30 or 8:30. But I'm too tired to search right now because I've been up since 2:30 am to get to the station so I can read about kids complaining that they don't like having to get to school at 7:30.
Next thing you know, they'll want a longer lunch period, maybe a 4 day school week, and Summers off. Wait, actually, that sounds pretty good.
