New Hampshire Weather Stinks in the Winter
The article states, and we know this from seeing them work, that the job includes high risk at high heights. Also, a power line worker is going to sent out in the worst of New Hampshire weather; snow, ice, wind, etc., you name it.
Not to mention the risk of getting electrocuted. They have to work in the rain and snow to try to reconnect our electricity. It's a thing. We've all seen the toasted squirrels on the line.
Massachusetts and Maine Don't Want to Be Commercial Fisherman
The article also states that the Maine and Massachusetts job that they wouldn't do for double to the pay is Commercial Fisherman due to the long hours and the dangers of being on the water.
We've all seen Deadliest Catch. It's no joke to be on those boats.
The next time we have a power outage, remember the people who go out on the line for us. It's dangerous work and I'm happy that they have chosen it. Otherwise, what would we do? I am miserable without power, so I appreciate them so much.
I'm even happier for the commercial fisherman because... well, lobster. Not really the lobster so much, but the butter that I soak it in. You get the idea.
