Say it isn't so!

Just when you thought the world was too much for you to take, all you had to do to calm your nerves was to turn on WMUR's New Hampshire Chronicle and you knew everything was okay when Fritz Wetherbee said, "I'll tell you the story."

But those days are soon to be over; Fritz is retiring.

According to WMUR, Fritz was in the U.S. Army, worked for local newspapers, public TV and radio and worked as a college instructor.

Fritz Gets Funky

This video, done by a BRILLIANT producer who I wish I knew, is hilarious. It captures a side of Fritz not often seen.

Memories of Fritz

Fritz has written several books about New Hampshire.  I remember when he released one of them and he was going to be in person at Toadstool Bookstore, which I thought was in Milford, but the website says Peterborough.  (Did it move?)

My friend and I were very excited to be there to meet the man who we saw every night on our TV, but when it came to talking to him, we decided not too.

The reason?  Too many people wanted to talk to Fritz.  He is an icon in New Hampshire.

The WMUR article says that he will be busy during his retirement.  Besides spending time with his wife, Laura, he is making plans to write a memoir.

I suppose it had to happen, the WMUR article states that Fritz is 88 years old.  He started telling stories in 2001.  If you do the math, that means he was 64 when he started "telling us the story."

Sean McDonald, Erin Fehlau and Haylee Lapoint, don't even think about the "R" word.

We will miss you, Fritz!
