If you've ever cut down your own Christmas tree, you know what a fun time it can be for the family.

And this year, if you have a fourth grader in the house, the tree hunt is free.

If you want a great deal on a tree and are willing to travel, head to the White Mountain National Forest.

You will need a permit, which you can buy for $5, cash or check only, from the White Mountains National Forest.

Offices are located in Campton, Lincoln, Gorham and Conway.

For office hours and permits, visit: www.fs.usda.gov/whitemountain.
