Over 200 tons of sand was imported and dumped on Hampton Beach last week, and that's the sand that 10 world class master sand sculptors will use in hopes of winning the event.

The purse is worth $15,000, with first prize worth $3,000. Six prizes in all are up for grabs.

When completed, the sculptures are sprayed with a mixture of school glue and water which protects them from the elements, and allows the sculptures to be viewed for a couple of weeks.

In fact, the event will be lit up at night through July 6th.

The Master Sand Sculpting Classic is funded by the Hampton Beach Village District and Sponsors, in cooperation with The Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce and The NH Division of Parks.
