Tragic Story: A New Hampshire Man Sentenced for Killing His Wife
WARNING: This is a disturbing story of a young New Hampshire woman's murder.
You think this sort of thing doesn't happen in New Hampshire, but it certainly does.
A man has been convicted and sentenced for the murder of his New Hampshire wife, but as the True Crime stories go of ABC's Dateline and 20/20, the story gets even more gruesome.
Joseph Ferlazzo was convicted of murdering his wife, Emily Jean, only 22 years old of Northfield, New Hampshire, then dismembering her body. He was sentenced to 42 1/2 years in prison without the possibility of parole, according to WMUR.
The NH Couple Was Only Married for a Year
The couple was on vacation in Vermont to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. According to WMUR, the couple got into a fight when the arrived in Vermont and he shot his wife twice in the head.
They had been traveling by bus, according to WMUR. After the shooting Emily's husband dismembered her body, stuffed her into garbage bags and put her in the bathroom on the bus.
Joseph left the bus in Vermont, with Emily in parts and dead inside, and drove back to NH.
After he returned without his wife, Emily's parents reported her missing.
He Said it Was Self-Defense
Emily's husband, at one point in the investigation, said that he shot her in self-defense, but the Prosecution said that the murder was premeditated.

These kinds of stories happen all. the. time. To say it's disturbing is an understatement.
Court TV filmed this guy giving testimony about the night that Emily Jean died. I can't imagine her family having to listen to this. It's really hard for me and I don't know anyone involved.
