Most of us are afraid of perhaps running into a bear while on a hike, or of course shark attacks like the ones earlier this week in North Carolina.

According to an article in The Washington Post, sharks, bears and alligators kill one person a year on average in the United States. Spiders kill 7 people a year, while venomous lizards and snakes kill 6 people on average a year in the US.

Cows are near the top of the list by causing close to 20 fatalities each year, while dogs are responsible for an average of 28 deaths each year in America.

So, the next time your out walking with you dog, you might want to keep a wary eye on it instead of looking for that bear.
