St Patrick's Day Parade in Boston Is Canceled

Say it ain’t so! Dang, it.

According to nbcboston.com, the Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade has been canceled for the second year in a row due to the pandemic.

It’s an epic celebration that I have really been looking forward to experiencing but I think I knew it was going to be canceled this year. I guess I will have to celebrate with a green beer by myself.

The news came as the South Boston Allied Veterans Council put out a tweet that stated “Due to ongoing state restrictions limiting outdoor public events to 25 people, the 2021 South Boston St. Patrick’s Day / Evacuation Day Parade has been canceled. We look forward to finally seeing you all again in 2022.”

I’m looking forward to a huge celebration next year to make up for two consecutive years of cancellation of the parade. My wife is as Irish as they come, her name before she married me was Shawn Colleen McCune!

Hanging out there is what other major events may be postponed due to pandemic restrictions this year. What will happen to the plans for the Boston Marathon?

According to nbcboston.com, last year’s Boston Marathon was held as a virtual run.

COVID-19 fatigue has got me down this week. I am also expecting a grandchild this month or next month and I am a bit anxious. I know these restrictions are put in place to protect us and others, but the disappointment remains the same.

I guess there is always next year. I will be decked out in my orange and green and at the ready for 2022.
