GM Recalls Close To 800,000 Vehicles Due To Defect
This defect has caused at least 56 injuries.
Last week, GM announced the recall of some vehicles that had the power lift-gate option installed.
Those vehicles include: the 2007-10 Saturn Outlook, 2007-12 GMC Acadia, 2008-12 Buick Enclave and 2009-12 Chevrolet Traverse.
A spokesman for GM said the lift-gate "may prematurely wear", which could cause it to fall quickly. The source of the problem is identified as a software error.
There have apparently been no crashes or deaths because of the defect, but at least 56 injuries have occurred because of it.
