Highland Lake Beach in Bridgton, Maine, Closed Due to E. Coli

Officials closed Highland Lake Beach in Bridgton, ME today. WMTW-TV is reporting tests came back showing a high level of E.coli.

According to the report, town officials posted on their website that the tests were "above the acceptable limit." And went on to say the town sent out samples to be tested today and will post the results of the testing once they receive them.

Town leaders told WMTW,  they don't know why the E.coli count was high, but according to the report, they said, "local fowl and low water levels may have played a role."

No matter the reason, with only a month or so before kids go back to school, this  is bad news for those families that love to swim, boat or kayak at the popular lake.
