Let me be the first to say that this stinks.

Did you hear the news that the O'Neil Cinemas in Epping, New Hampshire at Brickyard Square, just off Exit 7, off 101. That is a bummer.

They announced it on their Facebook page.

The Facebook announcement cited that the changing industry in the movie business and rising operating costs have made it impossible for them to continue the Epping location.  O'Neil Cinemas have two other locations which are not closing, one in Londonderry, NH and one in Littleton, Massachusetts.

The post was flooded with people who are heartbroken.

This makes me so sad. Tuesday movies are our favorite. I would surprise dismiss my kids from school after 12pm and surprise them with any new kid movie that was just released. We’ve made so many wonderful memories there. Sad to see this happen. We will miss you and our spontaneous fun adventures.

Like the Cowardly Lion, This Epping Movie Theater Will Be Missed Most of All

I echo the sentiments of the people who have gone to the theater on a regular basis.  It wasn't very busy and yes, that did worry me.

I too, have had many afternoons/nights when my husband was working, I would go to Popovers for a little nosh, maybe a glass of pinot and go into my refuge for a couple of hours.  No one could bother me.  I couldn't text, I couldn't call anyone, I was at the movie theater and it was all mine.

My stepson, Wesley, was a frequent customer at that location as well.  He bought one of those yearly passes that made it less expensive to go to a movie.  Granted, O'Neil probably lost money on that one because he used to go 3 or 4 times per week, no kidding.

I don't say this lightly, that theater and the movies that he saw, saved him. So for that, I thank you.  It's kind of funny that now he is in Seattle and doesn't go there anymore, the place closes.  I didn't think he spent THAT much money there.

If you have gift certificates for the Epping location, you can either use them before the closing date of March 15, 2026 or you an use them at the Londonderry or Littleton locations.
