Last Keene Video Rental Store Closes and Takes VHS Rentals With It
For those of you clinging to your ancient VCR, (yes, that is my RCA vr346 pictured above) a major news story out of Keene, NH delivers a foreboding message.
That is right. The last video rental store is closing in Keene. This was one of the few places in the state to land a rental that isn't made of digital. HeadQuarters was incredibly successful after it opened in 1983, but I don't think it could keep up with "binge-watching."
It took me quite awhile to locate the remote but I did find it in an old drawer with Energizer batteries that had 'use by' dates of 2001. If I had to guess, I'd say the last show I taped on this was a February 1999 episode of SNL in which Bill Murray was the host.
