When you think of adoption, you might think of cats and dogs.  After all, their furry faces are in ours all the time.

There are lots of other animals, however, that have been surrendered like birds.

Hendrix, a Parrot from Fall River Massachusetts, was up for adoption and got over 50 applications, according to WJAR.

There is also a sweet, gentle Cockatoo at the NHSPCA that just went up for adoption not long ago.

Hendrix Has a Potty Mouth

When the Forever Paws Animal Shelter received Hendrix, he looked almost naked from the lack of nutrition he received.  Apparently, the environment he was in had some colorful language and that's putting it mildly.

Hendrix swears like Samuel L. Jackson in "Snakes on a Plane," or "Pulp Fiction."  Take your pick of saucy-mouthed movies.

Forever Paws Animal Shelter put up a post on their Facebook page and they received over 50 adoption applications, according to WJAR.

New Hampshire Has a Sweet Cockatoo For Adoption

Parrots and Cockatoos are up for adoption more commonly than you would imagine.  The NHSPCA has "Snow" up for adoption and her story is heartbreaking.

Snow had a loving person to care for her for 20 years, however, her caretaker had to move into a long-term care facility and Snow can't come along.

The person who adopts Snow will be making a long-term commitment.  Cockatoos live 40-60 years and Snow is way younger than that.

Cockatoos are Very Smart, Clever and Loving

I remember one Cockatoo who I fell in love with.  This bird recognized me when I walked in and never wanted me to leave.
