This is sad.  We barely knew this place and now, it's closed.
It was announced on Facebook this past weekend that The Birch on Elm has closed for good.
The owner, Andre Scott, said thank you to the Manchester community for sharing special occasions with them.  He also made reference to the challenges that the restaurant had and how he was unwilling to compromise on the quality of food, safety or the guests experience.
The owner also especially thanked his staff.  He said that without them, the restaurant would not have been possible to run at all.

Will The Birch Be Back?

The owner made reference to potentially coming back in another form.  Their website is still up and running and if you want to know what is next for them, put in your email and they will let you know what's next.

The Birch on Elm Was Funky

I remember trying this restaurant only once, for drinks.  It had the best cocktails, if I recall.  I didn't get food, however, I saw the dishes passing by me and it looked like it was delicious.

The atmosphere was nice with comfortable couches and hardwood everywhere.  Even though the menu was modern, upscale comfort food, the restaurant design looked like it belonged in New Hampshire.

If I had to guess, I would say that the owner is already working on the next chapter of his culinary trip.  The restaurant did do catering and that part of the business might survive, just a guess.

Also, the restaurant had many local partners providing their food, so where there are partners, there is opportunity.

All the best to the next chapter!
