NH has been ranked #1 as the most patriotic state in the whole country, according to WalletHub.

The methodology WalletHub used compared two key dimensions, "Military Engagement" and "Civic Engagement."  Military engagement is exactly what you would think - people who are in the military, veterans in the state and families of military.  Civic engagement means, people who voted, people who volunteer and people who participate in groups or organizations to name a few.  The states were ranked from 0 - 100, then the average was combined to give the #1 score to NH of 63.97.

These are unsettled times in our Country, but it breaks my heart to think that I can't be patriotic these days without feeling guilty about it.  Is that just me or do you feel that way?

Right at this very moment, I am thinking of certain friends who may judge me just because I am writing this article.  I am thinking of every word that I am writing in an effort not to offend anyone.  I can't do it.

I am overwhelmed with sadness and disappointment because of the public murder of George Floyd.  I, like so many others, can't watch anymore as the air was taken from him and hearing his words, "I can't breathe," just makes me weep.  Why did that have to happen?  Why was that okay?  There are so many questions!!

What I am not is ashamed to be an American or a supporter of the police.  America has big problems right now, but this is where I was born, this is where my family lives and this is the country that I choose to live in.

As far as not supporting the Police, that, to me, is just nuts!  The Police officers that I know, joined the force because they wanted to PROTECT AND SERVE the people of their community.  Are their bad cops?  Yes, but there are bad people in every profession, especially politics, but that, my friend, is a conversation for another day.

LOOK: Protests have engulfed America since George Floyd's death
