In an effort to deal with this drought. officials in Portsmouth are planning to ask the city council to ban to ban all outside watering.

Brian Goetz, the Deputy Public Works Director, is expected to make the request next week at the council meeting.

There are already mandatory restrictions on Portsmouth residents to water lawns only on odd-number days.

This area has seen 11 consecutive months with less-than-average precipitation.
