Small consolation for the Pats losing to Chip Kelly's Eagles, but he was one of us at one time.

Doesn't everyone enjoy a 'local boy done good' story? While we are licking our wounds over the latest Patriot loss, let's give a nod to the Eagle's head guy.

Though the Patriot's loss was more self-inflicted that anything the Eagles did, it is nice to know that a fellow from Manchester, who once patrolled and coached at Cowell Stadium, is running a show in the NFL.

From 1981-84, Chip Kelly played quarterback and defensive back for the UNH Wildcats. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1990.

Kelly coached for the Wildcats as an assistant in 1992, and then from 1994-2006. At various times, Chip Kelly was a running backs coach, offensive line coach, and offensive coordinator.

He left UNH to take the offensive coordinator gig at Oregon in 2006, and took over as head coach of the Ducks 2 years later, and is now head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.

I get some satisfaction the day after a Patriot loss that at least the man on the other sideline once coached and played just as hard for a victory in Durham.
