This pertaines to the Royal Navy, who had 1,740 sailors quit in the last 12 months, but it could be a factor here in the states.

Submariners in the Royal Navy can spend 90 days under the water, sometimes more, and that is taking it's toll on some of the new recruits. And it's seemingliy not a health issue. The majority just don't want to be "un-plugged" for that long.

I can't imagine how the "Greatest Generation" would feel about such an issue. Then again, if smart phones were around in WWII, who knows how many soldiers would quit because they couldn't Twitter or Facebook from their fox hole.
