TBT: Jonathan’s First ‘Boom Box’

This was a Panasonic big seller back in the day, but it wasn't referred to then as a 'boom box'.

I was telling Aaron this morning while we were playing Cheap Trick, that I played their 'At Budokan' over and over in my Panasonic radio, which I purchased the same time.

I bought both at the old Service Merchandise store on 'the miracle mile' otherwise known as Central Ave in Dover. It is now the site of Planet Fitness.

It was the first radio I had that had a bigger speaker than my transistor radio or my clock radio, so I was ready to raise the roof!

I could also now record off the radio without having to hold the microphone of my cassette player to a speaker.

I got a lot of mileage out of that Panasonic, and I'm sure there are some of you reading this that have musical memories provided by this radio.
