Worcester Fire Fighter Dies While Trying To Save His Crew

Wednesday, November 13 was a sad day in Worcester when Worcester Fire Departments Lt. Jason Menard died while fighting an overnight fire.

The fire on 7 Stockholm Street started just before 1am, according to a report from WMUR.  Firefighters from Ladder 5 battled the fire and searched for anyone who might be trapped inside.  According to a report from WCVB, the crew was trapped by heavy fire on the third floor as they were searching for a baby inside. Lt. Menard was killed while trying to save the other people in his crew.  WMUR reports that he left behind a wife and three children.

What a tragic story for everyone involved.  Our hearts go out to the families.
