There Are Only 2 New Hampshire Drive-In Theaters You Can Visit for an Old School Movie Experience
Remember when the Weirs Drive-in up in Laconia, NH announced that it would not be opening for the season? That left only two Drive-In theaters in the state, one in Hinsdale, NH with Hollywood ties and the other in Milford, NH with nostalgic vibes.
The Milford Drive-In Theater is Sill in Operation
The Milford Drive-In has been in operation for decades. My family used to run a bowling alley right next door, (I think it's a car dealership now?) so I used to go a lot with my family.
The older kids would sit up front in the station wagon and I got the way WAY back. (IYKYK)
Lady in the Tramp Played at the Drive-In
I remember my first movie ever at the Drive-In was "Lady and the Tramp." A cartoon from Disney that came out in 1955. I think the year I saw it must have been around 1976-ish.
I thought it was the most awesome experience of my life. Popcorn, big colors on the big screen and I could fall asleep if I got tired. My Mom said I did just that.
The Northfield Drive-in Has Been in Operation for Decades
I had not heard of this drive-in before, but apparently, it's been around since 1948, according to their website.
The Northfield Drive-In, located in Hinsdale, NH is the only one that straddles two states, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
