Celtics Fans Rooting For New Castle’s Duncan Robinson
That guy in the Number 55 jersey for The Miami Heat that just helped break the collective heart of all Boston Celtics fans? He's literally from just down the road.
Duncan Robinson was born in York, Maine just 26 years ago and grew up in New Castle, just a 25 minute ride from The Shark Tank.
After watching him shoot for the better part of the last two weeks, I bet he could hit a 3 pointer from fourteen miles away too.
Mr. Robinson's upbringing happened in a very small neighborhood. New Castle's population is about 600. That makes Gonic look like a Metropolis by comparison.
But wouldn't you know it?
As these towns are small, so is the world in which we live and I can confirm that I know people (who shall remain anonymous) that KNOW him.
You'll be happy to discover that his alleged personality traits are 'nice', 'cool' and 'kind of quiet'.
I'll add in hardworking, as he attended two different academies before playing Division III ball and then ultimately played for the storied Michigan Wolverines.
He was UNDRAFTED.
To even make an NBA team, let alone start during a deep playoff run is an achievement beyond any superlative in the dictionary.
And now, at the ripe old age of 26, was one of just 8 Heat players to crush The Celts (and my soul) Sunday night.
It doesn't take long for me to recover, however, and now Duncan Robinson of New Castle NH (and The Miami Heat) will be facing off against LeBron James as The LA Lakers try to tie The Boston Celtics for total NBA Championships (17).
And if The Heat win you'll be able to hear me cheering all the way from here to New Castle!
