Latest Boston Marijuana Dispensary Invites You to Try a Different Kind of Cannabis Experience
New Pot Shop in Boston, Massachusetts
There's a new pot shop in Boston's South End called "Rebelle." The owner, Charlotte Hanna, wants to focus on making people feel healthy and well, rather than getting them high like traditional pot is known for (although she's not opposed to that, either).
I got a chance to talk to Charlotte about the shop, and how it's been described as "an alternative flower shop." Charlotte said that's probably because the neighborhood that the place is in used to be the city's Flower district. The whole area has been developed into a big bio-tech campus, with other shops included. The warehouse where the dispensary is located is the same area as the last standing flower wholesaler in the neighborhood. You can't go into Rebelle and buy a dozen roses. However, Charlotte said she is selling a different kind of flower.
Massachusetts Customers Said Edibles Put Them to Sleep
Customers were coming in saying that the edibles they were taking made them feel sleepy. Charlotte was telling me about an edible she's developed with green tea, that won't put you to sleep. There's another product that she has called THCV, which she's super excited to bring to market as well. In her words, it's like "herbal adderall". She want to focus more on the wellness part of what the actual marijuana plant can do for people.
Marijuana to Heal, Not Exactly to Get High
Rebelle has another store in North Hampton, and that is still where the grow plant is located. The new Boston location is having their grand opening on Saturday, 4/20. Charlotte is inviting the community to come and try a different kind of cannabis experience. My assumption is that she's marketing toward the person who is not necessarily looking to get high, but to improve their life either physically or mentally.
Rebelle's grand opening is Saturday, 4/20, at 591 Albany Street, Boston, MA, from 10am - 5pm.
I have a complicated relationship with pot. I have several family members and friends that smoke a lot of weed, and they are happy and successful people. Many take edibles for pain, sleep, etc., and I'm all for that. If it makes your life better, than rock on. But there are some who are clearly in pain and "self-medicate" with a LOT of pot rather than seek the help they need. The same can be said for prescription medications, though, and if I had to choose one over the other, weed gets my vote every time.
